Darryl helped me create a design wall on one wall of the sewing room, and it was very useful for this project! It's going to be a huge help going forward.
This quilt began with no plan, no pattern, just a box of off-cut triangles from previous quilts. For a totally improvisational design, I'm pretty pleased with the balance. Each square has the same design, but each has a unique color combination. There are two squares of each color, one dark and one light. They're joined with white strips and small squares made of four triangles at the intersections. Each of the small intersection squares contains a matching fabric from the adjacent squares. The quilt is bordered in black, and backed with navy. It's a light-weight throw, filled with low loft polyester batting. I was concerned some of the bright colors might bleed into the bright white, but it came through the wash beautifully.
This was a wedding gift for my nephew and his wife.
