This pattern is called french braid, but it makes me think of bicycle tire treads. I made this quilt to offer as a raffle prize to one lucky donor to my Pan Mass Challenge ride, a cycling event to raise funds for Dana Farber Cancer Institute. The black "track" in the middle is me, and the others are cancer colors that represent people we ride for and with. The gray background is the road, and the rows are placed on a diagonal to represent the hills. Depending on how you look at it, they are riding up, or down hill. There are plenty of both on the PMC route.
I used warm, soft flannel for the back and binding. Just the thing for a cold winter nap. For a chance to win this cozy, comfy quilt, donate $40 to my PMC ride. If you can give more, I'll enter your name once for every $40 you donate. 100% of your donation goes directly to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and brings us "closer by the mile" to a cure. Thank you!

Hi Gail,
I am late signing in. Beautiful quilts. I knew you were talented, but I didn't know quilting was another expertise. Love the masks! Have a safe ride. Hope you, Darryl and family are well!!!
That is one beautiful quilt and I love your description of the design. A beautiful tire tread rainbow of Hope.
